RDJ’s Concerns: long-term Tony Stark role impact on his acting

According to Robert Downey Jr., he was concerned that spending more than a decade portraying Tony Stark/Iron Man might limit his capacity to take on other roles. When questioned about the dangers of playing the same role for more than ten years, Downey Jr. said, “You start to wonder if a muscle you have hasn’t atrophied.” When asked if he was worried about how 11 years of playing Iron Man had affected his acting, Downey Jr. responded, “Yes. I agree with Christopher Nolan 100 percent, and I was aware that at one time he had said, “Let’s work those other muscles, but let’s do it while depriving you of your go-to things.”

In Nolan’s much anticipated biographical thriller Oppenheimer, Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss. For two periods, Strauss served for the US Atomic Energy Commission, the second of which he presided as chairman. Downey Jr. was able to demonstrate his acting abilities in a different way than in the Marvel films, which he characterised as “fast-talking, charming, unpredictable, blah, blah, blah.”

Working with Nolan exposed Downey Jr. to a more realistic method of filmmaking. When filming Oppenheimer, Nolan chose to employ actual effects rather than the significant use of green screens and visual effects in Marvel projects. Even the complete Manhattan Project hamlet was recreated by the director to guarantee that the movie wasn’t only filmed on a studio lot. The experience was satisfying for Downey Jr. “I’m happy that I’m in this quality product,” he told the outlet, “coming from that other place, entering the box office-weekend-dominating place, then going into this spot now.” “I’m glad I’ve reconnected with a more purist approach to filmmaking,”

On the set of Captain America: Brave New World, Downey Jr. was recently sighted. On the site, a security officer saw many supercars being driven about and was eager to tell a nearby colleague about it. The guard remarked, “Robert Downey Jr. was there last night, and they were driving all different kinds of supercars.” In Washington, DC, Captain America: Brave New World is now in production. Anthony Mackie plays the title character in the film, assuming the identity of Captain America. Given that the actor has shied away from inquiries regarding his participation in prior interviews, it is unknown if Downey Jr. would reprise his role as Iron Man in the movie.
