According to a social media suggestion, Deadpool and Wolverine’s “Merc With a Mouth” may have a voice in the events of Avengers 5. With a mysterious post, co-star Ryan Reynolds fuels rumors over Deadpool’s future in the MCU. Reynolds posted a looping video of the blue Avengers team flag blowing in the wind on Instagram. A sprayed anarchist sign, however, has defiled the flag, leading some to speculate that Deadpool may be among the various heroes in the next Avengers sequel, originally known as The Kang Dynasty.
Regarding their MCU prospects after Deadpool & Wolverine, which is the formal MCU debut for both men and the Deadpool series, Reynolds and co-star Hugh Jackman have been evasive. Speaking about his potential roles in the MCU, Reynolds recently admitted to being “nervous” to Empire Magazine. Jackman responded with a joke, saying, “I’ve never been so scared of what’s coming out of my mouth.” The actors and lifelong friends are still up for working on MCU projects in the future, though, if the proper chances present themselves. The prospect of Shawn Levy, the director of Deadpool & Wolverine, directing Avengers 5 may enhance Reynolds’ chances of being in the film. Marvel is considering Levy to helm the highly anticipated follow-up, perhaps replacing departing director Destin Daniel Cretton, who left the project in November. Levy has long been a collaborator with Reynolds and Jackman; most notably, the two worked together on Real Steel and The Adam Project. Although it’s unknown if Deadpool will appear in Avengers 5, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the main character in the Doctor Strange series, has revealed one hero would appear in the sequel.
Several concepts have been proposed for Deadpool-related ventures in the event that he remains in the MCU. Levy recently expressed his wish to see Deadpool and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man work together in a movie. Furthermore, a producer of Deadpool & Wolverine proposed that Wade Wilson should meet a villain from an MCU series. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson—hailed as a possible Multiverse game-changer—is summoned out of retirement by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and teams up with Logan for a mission that will impact the course of the MCU. Emma Corrin, Jennifer Garner, Morena Baccarin, Karan Soni, and Stefan Kapičić are also in the movie.
