The plot of Avengers: Secret Wars remains shrouded in secrecy, as the film will not be published for some years. However, one well-known Spider-Man series filmmaker aims to uncover the plot from behind the camera. In an interview, Sam Raimi stated an interest in directing Secret Wars, the seventh part of the Avengers film series. Raimi, who made his Marvel Cinematic Universe directorial debut in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is considered the front-runner to film Secret Wars. When questioned about the possibility of directing Secret Wars, Raimi was enthusiastic. “I adore 90% of the Marvel characters I’ve encountered in the amazing Stan Lee Marvel Universe comic books. I’d love to work with Marvel again. They have not fairly requested me to. I hope they had a positive experience with me. They have not asked me yet. “I hope they do,” he stated.
Raimi is most known for his critically and economically successful Spider-Man picture franchise from the 2000s, which grossed $2.5 billion worldwide. Since the trio of Sony films, fans have been screaming for Raimi to work with Marvel and the MCU, particularly their most popular series. After directing only two films in 15 years, including 2009’s Drag Me to Hell, Raimi returned to the realm of superhero blockbusters with the Doctor Strange sequel, which grossed over $955 million globally and was a critical success. Secret Wars, which serves as the MCU’s Phase Six finale, was originally scheduled to be published in 2026 but was put back a year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. According to reports, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige wants to reinvent the MCU with Secret Wars, which will be released nearly 20 years after the cinematic universe launched. According to insider claims, various members of the eponymous supergroup will head the Avengers sequel, which takes place after the events of the presently untitled Avengers 5, previously titled The Kang Dynasty. In addition, the film might contain a key Sony/Marvel character.
Meanwhile, stories continue to surface about whether the long-awaited fourth Raimi-led Spider-Man picture will be greenlit, reuniting the filmmaker with Tobey Maguire, who portrayed Peter Parker throughout the trilogy and reprised his role in No Way Home. Raimi downplayed the reports in a recent interview. However, Spider-Man 3’s Thomas Haden Church hinted to the possibility of the film’s production. While the director of Secret Wars has yet to be announced, Marvel is still looking for a new director for Avengers 5 after Destin Daniel Cretton left the project in November. However, insider Daniel Richtman recently provided a promising production update on the second Avengers picture, indicating that main filming will begin in 2025.
