Secret Invasion brings back one hero while killing another

Spread MCU News

As Secret Invasion progresses, it becomes evident that Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury may be out of his depth. Gravik appears to be one step ahead of him and Talos, no matter what counter-strategies they use. Unfortunately, the villain has already caused widespread devastation, with Skrull terrorist assaults decimating regions such as Russia. Surprisingly, Maria Hill also killed in the fight. While many anticipated Fury to adjust and make important moves to regain the upper hand in the series, more startling surprises have occurred. While fans are happy to see one hero restored, it comes at a heavy cost, as another seems to be killed in battle.

G’iah managed to live after being shot by Gravik in Secret Invasion Episode 4. To begin this episode, she covertly transformed herself into a Super-Skrull and used Extremis to heal. And it was surely a unique move, since fans expected to see G’iah, Talos, and Fury form a squad to take down the fanatics. However, that concept was shattered in the climax of “Beloved.” Gravik shot and stabbed Talos while he and Fury assisted the secret service in protecting President Ritson. It gave the fleeing Fury additional headache since not only was he conflicted about James Rhodes being a Skrull, but he had to leave his own Skrull wife, Priscilla. It’s unfortunate since Fury believed Talos to be a brother and one of the only people he could trust. And, considering Talos’ abundance of knowledge and potential to persuade Skrulls back, it’s a huge blow.

Gravik has a massive ego, which explains why he appeared to be playing games with Fury and Talos. But, after underestimating them, he’s definitely shifted his quest to conquer Earth into high gear. When G’iah learns that her father, like her mother, died battling these terrorists, she will be even more determined to kill Gravik. Fans aren’t sure what other abilities she’s gained as a Super-Skrull, which makes her an important character and one Gravik won’t see coming. It hands over the baton to her, but whether she can handle yet another catastrophe remains to be seen. Hopefully, she will grow more motivated and dedicated, channelling her father’s fire and learning about the new landscape from Fury. Some people are asking if there’s a chance Talos is still alive. The cliche of hinting a death at the conclusion of most episodes has, unfortunately, been overdone in Secret Invasion. Hill’s remained but G’iah’s did not, giving Talos a tiny chance of survival. If he doesn’t, expect Fury and a G’iah to go all out for vengeance and bring Gravik down the way Talos would have intended.
