Secret Invasion star talks about his Skrull villain causing chaos and pain

Gravik, a Skrull rebel, was revealed by Secret Invasion actor Kingsley Ben-Adir to have a vengeance against Nick Fury and Talos. The breakthrough star of One Night in Miami… told reporter that Gravik is a “sociopath” whose planned Skrull invasion will cause “pain and misery and suffering” for mankind. He hinted that viewers will soon learn why he is so determined to punish Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who may have contributed to Gravik’s brutality. As Nick Fury and Talos watch, “he wants to inflict as much pain, misery, and suffering on anyone and anything,” Ben-Adir added. To put it simply, it is what he stands for. He has no faith in anyone and despises everything.

The Secret Invasion episode 1’s acts by Gravik were also mentioned by the Peaky Blinders alum as evidence for his character’s motivations. Ben-Adir said, “This is a person who not only wants to create mayhem, but he wants Nick and Talos to witness it while it’s occurring. He wants people to know that he is the one who is doing it, and I thought it was a big part of the villain’s complexity. He wants to do it the way people perceive it, not simply blow things up. And he wants them to realise it. The shape-shifting adversary Gravik, in contrast to the most of the Secret Invasion key characters, was exclusively developed for the Disney+ series. He is presented as the commander of a band of renegade Skrulls that have been invading Earth under the guise of powerful individuals. After decades following the events of 2019’s Captain Marvel, Fury will reunite with Skrull friends Talos and an adult Gi’ah (Emilia Clarke) in the Marvel Studios series as they search for a solution to preserve mankind.

Secret Invasion’s premiere as a series was marred by controversy as it attracted criticism from fans who were miffed that Marvel Studios used artificial intelligence for the opening titles of its most recent show. Fans believe that this action was disrespectful to artists and inappropriate, especially in light of the current writers strike, during which the WGA is calling for restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation by studios and streamers. After receiving criticism from fans, Method Studios, the visual effects studio that created the contentious opening sequence, stood by their work by emphasising that no artists lost their jobs during the creation of the credits. According to the statement, “AI is but one tool among the variety of tool sets our artists employed. These new technologies did not replace the work of artists; rather, they enhanced and supported our creative teams.
