Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again has come under fire from Steven DeKnight, the showrunner for the first season of Netflix’s Daredevil, for how much the cast and crew are getting paid. Workers only receive full vacation pay once a series reaches its third season, according to a crew member who reportedly worked on all the Netflix Marvel shows as well as Daredevil: Born Again. He claimed that this is the reason why many networks and streamers decide to cancel shows before this point. The crew member mentioned that none of the Marvel Netflix series got past Season 3. DeKnight reacted to the crew member. The former Daredevil showrunner declared that he fully understands this problem and that it is incorrect for Daredevil: Born Again to be viewed as the fourth season of the narrative he started on Netflix rather than the first season of a new show.
DeKnight said, “It’s a classic Disney ploy where they slightly rename a show to reset contract conditions back to first season. All guilds and unions must confront this issue and squash it. Marvel Studios allegedly still views Born Again as a fresh programme, despite the fact that stars like Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, who played Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin on the Netflix series, are returning for the Marvel Cinematic Universe relaunch. Erik Oleson, a different former Daredevil showrunner, asserted that he sees the upcoming series as Season 4 of the first Daredevil programme. We incorporated bits of Born Again in our season, according to Oleson, the showrunner for Season 3 of the Netflix series. I still refer to it as Daredevil: Born Again Season 4, but they keep trying to argue that it isn’t, so I’ll accept whatever name they choose. Despite the fact that Oleson is no longer associated with Daredevil, he expressed his happiness for Cox and D’Onofrio. I’m thrilled that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will get the opportunity to go make more of the show, he added, adding that I hope more of our Marvel pals will get the same opportunity. “I love the show and I love them both a lot. I’m eager to find out what it is. Let me say that I hope it’s fantastic. Oleson doesn’t seem to have any significant complaints about Daredevil: Born Again, but DeKnight obviously has some issues with Netflix and Disney that he wants resolved. DeKnight disclosed that he is still due residuals for the Daredevil episodes he authored in the midst of the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. DeKnight joined a group of authors in an audit to collect the money they are all owed from the corporation, despite having given up attempting to receive the money from Netflix now that the original Daredevil series is available on Disney+.
