Joseph Culp, an actor, is advocating for the 1993 movie The Fantastic Four to be released. The cast of Marvel Studios’ forthcoming Fantastic Four reboot, The Fantastic Four, was just revealed. Actor Joseph Culp, who portrayed Doctor Doom in the shelved 1994 movie, is advocating for the film’s release after thirty years. A fascinating video that tells the behind-the-scenes tale of the shelved Fantastic Four film was shared on Twitter by user @GodzillaMendoza. In response to the video, Culp urged the 1994 movie to be released at last. He thanked the person who made the film, calling it a fantastic exposé on the original Fantastic Four. On May 31, which is the thirty-first anniversary of the film’s scheduled debut, Culp feels that “the truth about the film” should be made public.

The Fantastic Four was allegedly largely made with producer Bernd Eichinger’s rights to the team in mind. The $1 million budget for the production showed that it lacked the typical Hollywood investment. The actors hired a publicist on their own dime in an effort to help the movie become noticed. They planned promotional initiatives, such as a presence at San Diego Comic-Con International and a clip-screening at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The producers issued a cease and desist order to the actors, prohibiting any further marketing, which unexpectedly put an end to the premiere preparations. Director Oley Sassone was then notified by producer Bernd Eichinger that the movie would not be released. Regarding the real motivations behind the film’s creation, conjecture arose; some suggested the movie was never meant to be released. Co-creator of The Fantastic Four Stan Lee stated in 2005 that the movie was never intended for general release, confirming this rumour. According to Lee, Eichinger only put the movie into production to keep the rights to the characters. Eichinger refuted Lee’s account of what happened. Years later, a fan wearing a Fantastic Four jersey told Marvel Studios creator Avi Arad about the movie and showed delight about it. Arad paid a few million dollars for the rights and gave the order to have the picture destroyed because he was worried that the low-budget production would damage the team’s image. Nonetheless, over time, copies of The Fantastic Four made the rounds on the internet. Along with Joseph Culp as the antagonist Doctor Doom, the cast of the shelved movie includes Alex Hyde-White as Reed Richards, Rebecca Staab as Sue Storm, Jay Underwood as Johnny Storm, and Michael Bailey Smith as Ben Grimm.
