Stars of Ant-Man 2 and Black Widow to reappear in Thunderbolts film

The much awaited Thunderbolts film from Marvel Studios is expected to bring back two award-winning performers from the Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Widow series. In the Thunderbolts film, Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne and Oscar winner Rachel Weisz are reportedly returning to their respective Marvel roles as Melina Vostokoff and Bill Foster. Their possible participation in the next superhero team-up film won’t come as a surprise at all, given that they are both closely related to four of the film’s principal characters. Given that each of their characters have only made one appearance, Fishburne and Weisz’s purported Marvel comeback would be their second partnership with Marvel Studios. In the Ant-Man sequel, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost was raised by Fishburne’s Bill Foster, who was Hank Pym’s pal. Regarding Weisz’s Melina, she was shown as a veteran Black Widow operative who gave birth to Natasha and Yelena while on an undercover operation in America with the Red Guardian. She was last saw by fans fleeing the scene with Yelena, Alexei, and Taskmaster/Antonia Dreykov at the end of the 2021 film, leaving Natasha to cope with the cops.

Sebastian Stan, a veteran of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, previously stated in an interview that he was excited to play Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier again, indicating that the long-delayed Thunderbolts film will shortly start production in February. “I’m thrilled. I will return in approximately one month. It’s missed by me. Stan praised the ensemble and brought up the franchise’s recent box gross setbacks. Because of the high batting average, it’s challenging to consistently land every ball in the field. It’s always been a wonderful encounter. I think there are many positive aspects with this one in particular.”

Jake Schreier will helm Thunderbolts, a film that he co-wrote with Eric Pearson and Lee Sung Jin. For his efforts on Netflix’s Beef series, the latter just took home two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Directing. Oscar contender Steven Yeun, who was once expected to play Marvel character Sentry, would have rejoined Schreier and Lee in the forthcoming Marvel Studios film. Yeun chose to leave the project on January 3rd of last year because of schedule issues. In spite of this, the former cast member of The Walking Dead stated that he still hopes to appear in an MCU film in the future. In addition to Stan and John-Kamen, the film stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Tasmaster, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, and Ayo Edebiri in an unspecified role. According to recent sources, Marvel Studios is reportedly considering Lewis Pullman, star of Top Gun: Maverick, as their top pick to take Yeun’s position as the MCU’s Sentry. Russell claims that Thunderbolts won’t be your typical Marvel film, hinting to a “different” and “fun” plot for viewers.
