Get ready to see Sydney Sweeney as you’ve never seen her before: as a superhero. According to a new report, the Madame Web actress has been cast as Julia Carpenter, aka Spider-Woman, in an upcoming Sony film.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Julia Carpenter made her debut in the original Secret Wars comic back in 1984. After an experiment involving spider and plant DNA, she gains Spider-Man-like abilities.
Sweeney is an incredibly talented actress, so fans can expect her to nail the role. However, she won’t be the only Spider-Woman in the film. Cassandra Webb, Matie Franklin, and Anya Corazon are also rumored to appear.
But what about the rumored Olivia Wilde directed Spider Woman film? Unfortunately, not much information has surfaced about the project since its initial announcement. It’s unclear if it’s even happening at this point.
Fans will have to wait until February 16, 2024, when Madame Web hits theaters, to see how it all shakes out. Until then, we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for any new developments
