The senior creative director of Insomniac Games, Bryan Intihar, has reacted to Mary Jane Watson’s once-again contentious stealth missions in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In an interview, Intihar gave an explanation for why Insomniac Games decided to revive the MJ stealth missions from the original PlayStation Spider-Man game, despite the fact that fans and critics had not been kind to them. “Our options were two,” Intihar stated. ‘All right, we’ll simply not do it and make it simple,’ we may say. And everyone would say, “Excellent.” Not one MJ mission. Alternatively, we may say, ‘Hey, we’ve discussed presenting the world from many sides. We’re gonna improve her moments.” Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes the contentious choice to arm the red-headed supermodel with a shock pistol in order to incapacitate unsuspecting foes in reaction to the bad criticism received on the MJ stealth missions. Some gamers believe that the weapon is more potent than the combined might of Miles Morales and Peter Parker, the two Spider-Mans. According to Intihar, the addition of the stun gun was done so that MJ would be a “proactive, capable person” in the game and that “I don’t care if she’s a little OP.” She is okay. I’m not bothered.

Intihar also discussed a preliminary gameplay idea incorporating MJ for the first Marvel’s Spider-Man video game. According to Intihar, there was an extremely early version of Spider-Man 1 that was never finished. However, it was a part of a plot treatment in which Pete was supposed to get hurt and be so wounded that he would be unable to walk. “She was going to really try to pull him to safety, and she was going to take hold of one of his web-shooters, turn it on, and kill opponents who were attempting to approach them, but that never ends. That, I believe, is where the concept for the web-shooter originated, as I thought, “Let’s give her the ability to stun enemies in the first mission.” Now playable on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 systems is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It honours the late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman and includes several references to the Marvel comic book series. Before the year ends, a new Game Plus Mode should be available.
