The fear that Captain Marvel has the most is becoming the strongest hero alive

Captain Marvel has pushed her powers in ways that fans could only have previously dreamed during the course of Kelly Thompson’s outstanding run on the series. Unfortunately, a plethora of new issues have arisen as a result of these enlarged powers, particularly ones that are extremely personal in nature. Carol is fortunate to be surrounded by a large number of loved ones who can assist her in overcoming her darkest anxieties, even if they first have to explain to her why she is so scared of being the most powerful hero in the universe. The title character in Captain Marvel (by Kelly Thompson, Javier Pina, David Lopez, Yen Nitro, and VC’s Clayton Cowles) is still in shock following Binary’s passing. Carol desperately seeks answers and turns to her closest friends, who seek assistance from the most mysterious of sources. Jessica Drew takes Carol to the Bar With No Doors and begs her to go through the door that leads to a huge white void where she may be more literally alone with her thoughts than she is used to. Soon after, Carol receives assistance from a vision of the Scarlet Witch in overcoming her sadness and, shockingly, her dread of turning into the next Scarlet Witch.

Carol Danvers has been one of Marvel’s most potent interplanetary heroes for years, but there has been a lot of withering in between her bursts of fame. The birth of the most recent bearer of that moniker, like Carol’s first metamorphosis into Binary, was a show of power unlike anything she had ever done before. Although Binary’s presence helped her during one of her most intense confrontations, it was also enough to catch the eye of some of the most well-known Masters of the Mystic Arts in the Marvel Universe. Agatha Harkness, who was leading the drive, was concerned that Carol Danvers may, despite her best efforts, wind up going in the same direction as Wanda Maximoff before her.

The Scarlet Witch’s reputation will always be marred by the numerous crimes she has perpetrated against reality itself, even though it started with Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and was changed by her time spent with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The most notorious of them is unquestionably the Decimation of mutantkind, which Scarlet Witch accomplished with the simple command, “No more mutants.”Even though the mutant community has seen several resurgences since then, Wanda’s legacy has been marred by M-Day’s aftermath. Of course, that hasn’t stopped her from joining the Avengers in the present or from demonstrating how heroic such unstoppably strong individuals can be when they have accepted their darkest selves.

Carol has legitimate concerns about losing control and becoming an unintentional victim, but she doesn’t have to worry as much as Wanda did. Carol had always been more in sync with herself and the world around her, so much so that being taken away from it could not prevent her from perceiving the truth, in contrast to the Scarlet Witch who figuratively lost her hold on reality. More crucially, Wanda’s lowest point coincided with her being alone herself in her grief; Carol will never have to go through that.

The interactions Carol has with her fellow heroes are one of the major recurring themes in her life. This has been so plainly apparent that it first came to light only after Binary’s collapse. With that being the case, Carol can relax knowing that, even if things worsen, she won’t have to endure it alone. Having this type of support system also makes it simpler for Captain Marvel to keep discovering who she truly is on every level.
