Thomas Haden Church, the star of the Spider-Man franchise, is sustaining fan anticipation for the eventual release of Spider-Man 4. Sam Raimi cast Thomas Haden Church as the antagonist Sandman in 2007’s Spider-Man 3, following his direction of two previous Spider-Man films. Following the cancellation of plans for a fourth film, Spider-Man has undergone two reboots. In 2019, Church returned as Sandman and the three live-action Peter Parker movie stars came together for the crossover film Spider-Man: Far From Home. In a recent interview, Church confirmed his willingness to return for the possible sequel and discussed what he’s heard about the rumours that Raimi may ultimately return to direct Spider-Man 4 with Maguire back in the costume. “Sandman… there’s been some rumours that they might ask me to do another Spider-Man, and I’d do it tomorrow,” remarked Church. “They never asked me to appear in another Marvel movie, but I believe Sam Raimi will reunite with Tobey Maguire for another Spider-Man picture.” That’s the one where, when there was going to be a Spider-Man 4, they really gave me the choice to do it. They offered me the chance to return. Therefore, that would be wonderful if it did occur. I’m simply growing older.”

The official announcement of a Spider-Man 3 sequel starring Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire has not yet been made. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, has hinted that it may happen in the past. In an interview, Feige said that when No Way Home became such a huge hit—partly due to fans’ fondness for the original Spider-Man actors—writers had “big ideas” about what more to do with the character. “I’ll just state that the story is available. Our writers are just starting to put pen to paper on some really significant ideas we have for that,” Feige stated. Following the events of the previous two films, Tobey Maguire reprised his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3, carrying on his romance with Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). In the film, Thomas Haden Church made his screen debut as Flint Marko, the real killer of Uncle Ben who goes on to become the Sandman, a supervillain. Along with competitor photographer Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), who develops a relationship with the symbiote known as Venom, and Harry (James Franco), who transforms into the new Green Goblin, are other characters that Peter Parker must deal with.
