It looks like Miles Morales’ Spider-Man will be moving from animation to live-action sooner than expected. At the 2024 Academy Awards luncheon, producer Amy Pascal of the Spider-Man franchise was questioned by Variety on Miles’s progress towards his live-action Marvel debut. The answer was, “Someday,” Pascal replied. “Not until we have completed two more films… We’re having a great time doing the animated Spider-Verse films.” Co-writer and producer of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Christopher Miller provided an intriguing explanation of the “two films” Pascal was referring to.
Miller said on social networking site X, “To clarify, she meant Beyond the Spider-Verse and the live-action Tom Holland film when she said ‘not until we make two more films.'” Miller hinted in December of last year that there will be a satisfying climax to the third and final animated Spider-Verse film. However, following public uproar about the purportedly hostile workplace atmosphere that existed during the creation of Across the Spider-Verse, Beyond the Spider-Verse was postponed. “The live-action Tom Holland film” alludes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man 4. There have been rumours that Sony wants Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to reprise their recognised Spider-Man roles following the multidimensional crossover in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Additionally, there are rumours that Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will make an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. In response to a question concerning his requirements for playing Peter Parker again in the MCU, Holland stated, “It will have to be worth the while of the character.” Any rumours that actor Donald Glover will be playing Miles Morales in a live-action movie were refuted. Although he’s “too old” to play the part, the Community actor nevertheless expressed his desire to participate in the movie. However, Jake Johnson expressed his desire to play Peter B. Parker again in the upcoming film.
