The “The Marvels” director Nia DaCosta has revealed when the Captain Marvel sequel takes place in the history of the MCU. DaCosta said in an interview with Total Film (via Collider) that the film will take up just after the post-credits sequence of the Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel,” implying a clear continuity. After using her abilities, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel switched places in this scene, which served as the opening for “The Marvels.”

According to DaCosta, “that scene from the end of Ms. Marvel is one of the first times we see Kamala in the film.” She said that although Kamala’s tale had a small gap, it would go through a spiritual development phase that would progressively manifest throughout the film.

Oscar winner Brie Larson will reprise her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in “The Marvels,” having recently appeared in “Avengers: Endgame.” Both Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are played by Teyonah Parris from “WandaVision” and Iman Vellani, respectively. The movie will debut on November 10, 2023.
