The Marvels trailer receives dislike-bombing from biased fans: unfair hate for groundbreaking MCU projects

Spread MCU News

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been a major success story, creating some of the most beloved and profitable films in recent years. However, some recent projects, including Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk, have been the subject of discriminatory hate from a group of fans. The new trailer for The Marvels is the latest to receive a large number of dislikes since being posted online.

The trailer, which features three female heroes, garnered 7.6M views in just 11 hours but received 214K dislikes on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel compared to 318K likes. Many fans that are review-bombing The Marvels’ trailer seem to be attempting to make a political statement, expressing that Marvel Studios is “woke.” One user commented on the YouTube post that the footage is full of “wokeness.” These fans claim that they are fairly flooding the trailer because they genuinely think that the quality is bad. However, other trailers that have been criticized did not get nearly as many dislikes on YouTube.

For example, the trailer for Shazam 2 received only 11K dislikes despite it having 18M views. Similarly, the trailer for Morbius, which was one of the most criticized comic book films of the past 20 years, only received 11K dislikes with 24M views on the video. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also suffered from the same dislike-bombing, receiving 302K dislikes with 25M views.

It is important to remember that She-Hulk also received a lot of backlash during its marketing campaign for the same reasons as The Marvels – fans claiming political “wokeness.” It is safe to say that the group of fans who are dislike-bombing the new trailer for The Marvels are simply trying to make a statement instead of fairly praising or criticizing the content that is being produced.

Unfortunately, this unfair hate for groundbreaking MCU projects not only builds a stronger barrier between fans of the franchise but also unfairly impacts all of the hardworking people that are making The Marvels possible. Instead of celebrating the fact that three powerful characters will be on-screen together and have the potential to deliver a compelling story, some fans have already decided to bury the film and tarnish its legacy before it even gets a chance.

It is important to note that there is a difference between genuine criticism and hate speech. While fans are entitled to their opinions, there is no justification for discriminatory hate or review-bombing. Such behavior not only harms the creators and actors involved but also poisons the fan community and undermines the joy of fandom.

In conclusion, The Marvels trailer’s dislike-bombing is a sad reflection of the current state of the fan community. The MCU has been a platform for diverse stories and characters, and it is disheartening to see fans reject this progress. However, we must remember that the voices of the few do not speak for the majority, and it is up to us to support and celebrate inclusive storytelling. The Marvels is set to be released in theaters on November 10, and we should all give it a fair chance before judging it based on biased and discriminatory opinions.
