Marvel Jesus, the new moniker for the lead character in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film, is emphasized in a new poster. The only movie Marvel Studios is releasing in 2024 is Deadpool & Wolverine, and that means a lot of pressure is on it. Although Deadpool & Wolverine, directed by Shawn Levy, isn’t officially Deadpool 3, it is the third picture in which Ryan Reynolds plays the title Merc with a Mouth. Hugh Jackman will return to the role of Wolverine in the forthcoming superhero film, but there will also be some familiar faces making cameos, including two of the characters shown on the new poster. The artwork features Deadpool, Wolverine, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, all of whom are seated on prayer candles. It is visible below:
The recently created artwork was shown to CCXP Mexico festival goers and is now available for viewing on the official website. The image, which centers on Reynolds’ Wade Wilson, plays on the new moniker the character gave himself in the first teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine: “Marvel Jesus.” With the next movie, Deadpool will formally enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, has vowed that the film would have “universe-sized stakes.” Deadpool finds the Sacred Timeline to be really fascinating. Soon after, he finds out that the stakes are enormous and the deal is not as straightforward as he initially believed,” Feige added. In 2009, Ryan Reynolds made his screen debut as Deadpool/Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But the character didn’t seem really his own until 2016, the year he received his first feature film. Reynolds played Deadpool again in a 2019 follow-up, and he’ll play the character again in the eagerly awaited Deadpool & Wolverine.
Reynolds called the next superhero movie “the most Deadpool movie in the history of Deadpool” during an interview. The Deadpool movies have so far broken the fourth wall, including additional violence, meta allusions, and F-bombs. “The most Deadpool movie” may not have meant exactly what Reynolds implied, but there will be a lot of changes in the picture, including Wolverine becoming a second main character. The actor discussed the relationship between Deadpool and Wolverine, saying, “As much as I take the ever-loving fucking piss out of him each and every day, underneath that is a genuine love story.” Reynolds and Jackman are great friends in real life. Even though we have antagonistic relationships throughout the film, true love is always present. It’s a privilege to get to spend time with my two best friends and to get up in the morning with a deep desire to say something so ridiculous that people burst out laughing.
