Venom is expected to take center stage as an important character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 when it debuts on the PlayStation 5 in a few short weeks. Insomniac Games recently gave fans the most thorough preview of Venom’s final look at SDCC. One of Venom’s co-creators, Todd McFarlane, offered his opinions on the look of the character and whether Insomniac had properly portrayed the infamous bad guy. McFarlane commended Venom’s proportions, pointing out that his purposefully larger-than-life stature distinguishes him from other superheroes. The most recent teaser made clear Venom’s formidable danger by emphasizing his wide shoulders and huge presence.

McFarlane did have one issue with Venom’s design, though: his tongue. McFarlane explained that in the earlier appearances, Venom just had a toothy smile, despite the fact that the character’s signature “Venom tongue” has grown in fame over the years. Nevertheless, he conceded that Venom still appears quite menacing, tongue or no tongue. Whatever side of the tongue debate fans go on, Venom will undoubtedly be portrayed by Insomniac in a menacing and compelling way. The ominous presence of Venom will be felt by players when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20.
