Tom Hiddleston, well known for his portrayal as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appears as a mentor behind the scenes of The Marvels. During the filming, Zawe Ashton, who plays the ruthless Kree rebel Dar-Benn, got advice from Hiddleston, her fiance. In her interview, Ashton and other cast members discuss the upcoming film frankly. “It led to some incredible conversations about his experience being a part of this franchise for over a decade,” Ashton says of her talks with Hiddleston. She goes on to say, “One of the main takeaways from our conversations was, ‘What you put into Marvel, you get back.'” ‘If you go into this with an open heart and a fantastic work ethic, and just want to deliver an amazing experience for the audience, you’ll have an amazing time on those sets,’ he added. In that manner, he truly empowered me.” Ashton, well known for her roles in Velvet Buzzsaw and Mr. Malcolm’s List, has previously auditioned for other Marvel productions. She was, however, caught aback when she received an unexpected opportunity to join the cast of The Marvels. She took advantage of the occasion by focusing on stunt training and humorous research. Ashton seeks guidance beyond the practical, and goes to her fiancé, the actor behind Loki.

Along with Hiddleston, Ashton thanks director Nia DaCosta for empowering her as a performer. DaCosta advised her to put agility and strength ahead of traditional aesthetic demands. Ashton is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of The Marvels, a one-of-a-kind female sci-fi extravaganza directed by a woman. DaCosta also characterises the cast’s chemistry as a “very sisterly bond” that reflects their on-screen dynamics. Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris are among the actors that naturally connect with one another, resulting in a genuine chemistry that shows through in the picture.

Parris emphasises the importance of having three strong and varied female leaders in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I’m excited that the MCU has three lead women, all from very different backgrounds, and they’re all baddies in their own way,” she says. It’ll be thrilling just to see these brilliant, humorous, intellectual, and troubled ladies find their way.” With Vellani practising Kamala Khan’s parkour-inspired manoeuvres and Parris taking months of boxing training for her part as Monica Rambeau, The Marvels offers a broad spectrum of combat tactics for each character. Nia DaCosta, the director, makes certain that each character has a different combat technique, emphasising individuality.
