Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is overtaken by Venom in dark MCU Spider-Man 4 artwork

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is invaded by the Venom symbiote in terrifying MCU fan art ahead of the release of Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4. Tom Holland has played Peter Parker’s Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and he has since starred in a solo Spider-Man trilogy known as the “Home Trilogy” as well as cameos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Holland is likely to return in a new trilogy of Spider-Man films produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, which might put him against some of his most iconic enemies, such as Kingpin and Venom. Tom Holland’s upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy will begin with Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4, which is said to be in development but has no release date yet. Bosslogic posted dramatic new fan art depicting Peter Parker being enveloped by the Venom symbiote while in liquid form.

This ominous artwork references concerns that Venom would emerge in Spider-Man 4, as the symbiote was left in the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock made his MCU debut in No Way Home, but the future of Marvel Studios’ Venom is unknown. For a long time, fans speculated that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will eventually unite with the Venom symbiote, obtain his distinctive black outfit, and face up against the famed Marvel Comics villain. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s mid-credits sequence made significant strides in establishing this much anticipated plot for the MCU’s future, as Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock was drawn into the MCU by Doctor Strange’s spell and left a portion of Venom behind when he came home. If Spider-Man 4 continues right after No Way Home, Peter Parker would be the most natural choice to finally fight Venom.

Other villains have been suggested for Spider-Man 4, including Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, Kingpin, who is poised to become Mayor of New York and launch a war against vigilantes like Daredevil and Spider-Man. However, Marvel Studios is building up this tale gradually, so depending on when Spider-Man 4 is released, it’s possible that this will be preserved for a future project. Spider-Man initially got his Venom costume in Marvel Comics’ 1984 Secret Wars storyline, so it’d be amazing to see the two antagonists team up in the buildup to Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars in Phase 6.
