A tragic accident occurred on the set of Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man in Studio City, resulting in the death of a crew member. The incident took place at Radford Studios, where the rigger fell from a catwalk. The series was not filming at the time of the accident. The victim has been identified as Juan Carlos Osorio, a resident of Temple City, and the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the news. Marvel Studios expressed their condolences and assured their support for the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The IA (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) expressed their shock and deep sadness over the loss, emphasizing their commitment to supporting Osorio’s family and colleagues during this difficult time. The safety of all crew members on set is a top priority, and the IA promised to assist Cal/OSHA (the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health) in their investigation. They also provided a safety hotline for members to report any concerns regarding on-set safety.
Despite this tragedy, production for Wonder Man is scheduled to begin next month after previous delays caused by the WGA (Writers Guild of America) and SAG AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strikes. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and revolves around the character Simon Williams, who, in the comics, has ties to a wealthy industrialist. After his company loses to Stark Industries, Williams joins forces with the villain Baron Zemo, acquiring extreme strength through ionic talents. Eventually, he becomes an ally of the Avengers.
