The first Disney+ original programmes to receive physical editions will be Loki, WandaVision, and The Mandalorian, according to The Walt Disney Company. Several never-before-seen special features, Steelbook packaging, concept art cards, and the popular Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm series will be available on Collector’s Edition 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray discs. Loki: The Complete First Season from Marvel Studios will be released on September 26. WandaVision: The Complete Series from Marvel Studios will be released on November 28. Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete First Season and Star Wars The Mandalorian: The Complete Second Season will be released on December 12. The first Disney+ original series to be made available for purchase on tangible media is this one. Beginning on August 28, all four titles will be available for pre-order. Less than a week prior, Disney-owned 20th Century Studios said that the Predator prequel movie, Prey, will also be released on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. There will be a tonne of bonus content included in that release, such as two deleted scenes, an alternate opening, and an audio commentary track. Additionally, before watching the movie, collectors will have the option of choose the whole Comanche audio track. Prey will have a special Steelbook edition that can only be purchased at BestBuy.
Before Loki Season 2 debuts on Disney+ on Friday, October 6, Loki Season 1 will be made available on tangible media. After the devastating Season 1 conclusion, Loki finds himself “in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority,” according to the official description, which picks up the next day. The beloved God of Mischief will also be dealing with timeslipping, a condition that leads those who suffer from it to be pushed between the past and the present. The synopsis adds, “Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters.” It is unknown at this moment if Disney intends to release other Disney+ original shows on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. However, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a Disney+ limited series, is also mentioned as receiving a physical distribution in Marvel.com’s press post. The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Hawkeye are just a few of the unique Marvel and Star Wars series that Disney+ has released since its 2019 launch. There is a potential that Disney+ may at least continue to release its Marvel and Star Wars episodes on 4K UHD and Blu-ray if viewers choose to buy Loki Season 1, WandaVision, and The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2 on physical media.
