In a brand-new clip from What If…? season 2, Kahhori’s heroic voyage within the Marvel multiverse gets underway. The latest video has the MCU’s newest superhero, Kahhori (voiced by Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs of Reservation Dogs), being met by Atahraks (Jeremy White), who takes her on a tour of his town and its Tesseract-wielding residents. He reveals that this power is ingrained in the earth and may be harnessed by those who absorb portions of it. He also discloses that Kahhori came into their world via a gateway that was linked to a place she refers to as the “Forbidden Lake.” The interview is conducted entirely in Mohawk, which is a remarkable language achievement that was made possible, according to writer Ryan Little, after four years of close cooperation with the Mohawk Nation.
Director Bryan Andrews discussed expanding Kahhori’s tale and integrating it into a larger chronology in which North America was never colonised in the 1600s during an advance screening of What If…? season 2. He continued, saying that the process of historically reconstructing Haudenosaunee Confederacy culture of that time involved “talking with the consultants, getting into their belief system and the rest, we were able to find an in that was solid, and worked.” According to Andrews, these Mohawk advisors were “amazed” by the outcome of the show, “What If… Kahhori Reshaped the World?” They wrote a letter to us expressing their belief that, for the first time, their people were being accurately depicted in the media. Kahhori has been shown prominently with Captain Carter in the What If…? trailers, but her exact function in the second half of the programme is yet unknown. In “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?,” the show’s fifth episode, the post-credits scenario from the first season finale was taken up, with Peggy Carter seeing a living Steve Rogers who had been indoctrinated into an assassin by the Red Room. But as the programme came to a close, Peggy was taken to a place where figures from the 1602 realm were, suggesting that there was more going on. Marvel Studios is presently developing a number of animated shows for Disney+, including Marvel Zombies, X-Men ’97, Eyes of Wakanda, and Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, in addition to What If…?
