Why Victor Timely in Loki Season 2 is so terrifying

Spread MCU News

Many Kang the Conqueror variants will enter the MCU following Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Solace, but one in particular will frighten Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in advance of Loki Season 2. After portraying the He Who Remains Variant in Season 1 of Loki, Jonathan Majors eventually gave Kang his full debut in Ant-Man 3. After Josh Brolin’s Thanos, these two films are just the beginning of his adventure as the MCU’s next major adversary, and he has already been set to appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2025. As He Who Remains’ passing caused upheaval in the Multiverse, Loki Season 2 is also slated to return to the Kang plotline. Promo video has already hinted at how the Time Variance Authority will function without He Who Remains. The God of Mischief will now have a fuller understanding of the threats in front of him following the second of Ant-Man 3’s post-credits sequences.

Who is Marvel’s Victor Timely, as described in the Ant-Man 3 Post-Credits?

The sixth new Kang Variant, Victor Timely, is introduced in the second post-credits scene of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. With a large poster saying “Victor Timely and his Astonishing Temporal Marvels,” Jonathan Majors is shown on stage making a talk about time in a year that looks to be in the 1800s. After that, Timely begins his lecture by delivering the following succinct monologue:

“Time is everything. It shapes our lives, but perhaps, we can shape it!.”

The God of Mischief’s face displays a look of utter dread as he recognises the identical visage he saw when he first encountered He Who Remains as the camera then pans to see Loki and Mobius in the crowd, played by Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, respectively. Loki emphasises that Timely is not to be taken lightly, even though Mobius does not perceive this new Variant as being much of a threat:

Loki: “It’s him…”

Mobius: “You made him sound like this terrifying figure…”

Loki: “He is…”

After witnessing Sylvie slay He Who Remains in the climactic episode of Loki Season 1, which resulted in the Multiverse and the “Holy Timeline” destabilising, it is probable that this is Loki’s first encounter with another Kang Variant.

True Loki’s Victor Timely’s Season 2 Character

Victor Timely, a fictional alter ego of Kang, built the town of Timely, Wisconsin in the year 1901. With his knowledge from the far future and from all points in time, he turned it into a technological sanctuary. He also constructed Chronopolis, his capital city, which was later transformed into the Quantum Realm version of the metropolis in Ant-Man 3. His choice of name not only alludes to his status as a time traveller from the Multiverse, but it also pays homage to Timely Comics, the original name of Marvel Comics before it was altered in 1961.

In the post-credits sequence, Victor appears to be exhibiting a time-traveling apparatus, which could have brought Loki and Mobius to him at that precise moment. After all, with many Kang Variants already revealed to play a role in Season 2 of Loki, they’ll be looking for anything relating back to Kang once they learn more about He Who Remains. As the first Variant from Season 1 threw the Time Variance Authority for a loop, the organisation sought to set the Multiverse on the correct track in Season 2, and Loki is going to be hellbent on learning everything he can about Kang.
