Witch visions described in episode 3 of Agatha All Along

The new MCU witches in Agatha’s coven revealed five visions in “Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials,” the third episode of Agatha All Along, which deserves an explanation. Agatha All Along, which follows Agatha’s persistent efforts to regain the powers that Wanda took from her at the conclusion of WandaVision, has so far brought a vibrant ensemble of new characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These are the members of the coven that Agatha has put together, and they are all traveling the Witches’ Road for different reasons in order to fulfill their greatest goal in the end. In the third episode of Agatha All Along, the Witches’ Road trials finally start. Jennifer Kale oversees the coven’s first trial, which puts its alchemical prowess to the test. It quickly becomes clear that their mission is to develop an antidote for a poison that everyone must ingest once they visit an ostentatious beach mansion that appeared out of nowhere, resulting in the sad but inevitable death of Mrs. Hart/Sharon Davis. A sequence of premonitory effects, including individual visions of doom that served to enlarge the members of the Agatha All Along coven, were inflicted upon each witch.

Sharon’s vision is the only one that isn’t shown on screen; instead, she uses her response to describe what she sees. This is probably because it’s a sequence from the first WandaVision program, “Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience,” which most viewers have previously seen. In it, Wanda and Vision welcome Mrs. Hart and her made-up husband, Arthur Hart, to supper. When Arthur starts to choke while they are eating, Mrs. Hart laughs and jokingly tells him to “Stop it,” but then she turns uncannily to Wanda and begins to speak in a beseeching tone. Mrs. Hart says just “Stop it” in the WandaVision scene, but her terrified eyes betray her normally upbeat demeanor. Therefore, Sharon Davis’ cries during her vision in WandaVision episode 1 are probably a representation of her actual thoughts as her body struggled to communicate them through Wanda’s imposed script. The whole ordeal is made even more tragic by the fact that Davis relived this horrific event minutes before she passed away, since the really endearing character was introduced by mistake.

It’s possible that the identification of the corpse-like lady as Lilia’s instructor alludes to the second wave of Italian witchcraft executions that took place during Lilia’s formative years, from 1580 and 1660. Alternatively, this vision might have been the product of a major natural calamity such as the earthquake that struck Sicily in 1693, which claimed 60,000 lives, or of a tragedy that most certainly resulted in many deaths and may have been related to the medieval plague. The concept of horrific witchcraft executions—among which one was being buried alive—would be furthered by this.

Agatha invited Alice Wu-Gulliver to join the coven, suggesting that she could learn what happened to her mother. This suggests that Alice’s vision of her mother consuming poison was probably a dread of what her mother may have done rather than a replay of the actual event. The lighter, on the other hand, stands in for another, more often mentioned mode of punishment that was once used for people found guilty of witchcraft: burning at the stake.

In her vision, Jennifer Kale finds herself going back to the kitchen to see a doctor in a room now soaked in an aquatic ripple effect, dressed in scrubs from the early 20th century. After turning around and saying, “You are an inconvenient woman,” he grabs her and throws her head under the running water in the sink. He then says, “And now, you’re nothing.” When Jen comes out of the sink, the doctor has left and the kitchen has returned to normal. Later, Jen says, “I’m bound,” while the coven tries to concoct the antidote. My magic was taken by him.”

Because she was initially reluctant to drink the poisoned wine, Agatha experiences her vision last and much later than that of the other coven members. Agatha is drawn to the sound of a crying infant coming from a cot in the middle of the kitchen as the witches are making the remedy. She approaches with a clearly emotional look on her face, only to be horrified as she removes the crib’s cover to see the Darkhold in place of the infant. Jen brings her back to the present, and although though she is upset, she declines to give further details about her vision.
