Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the X-Men ever since Disney purchased 20th Century Fox at the end of 2017. However, there has been little progress towards their introduction, and the upcoming MCU crossover, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, may not feature any mutants.
Jeff Loveness, the writer of the Kang Dynasty, recently revealed that he thinks all X-Men connections are “pretty far away,” and the mutants are “being saved for a bit.” Loveness explained that the Avengers have a lot going on with Kang and that they have more than enough to handle without the addition of the X-Men.
Nate Moore, the executive producer of Avengers 5, also confirmed that the MCU might be a few years out from introducing the X-Men. However, he pointed to Storm’s relationship with Wakanda as an interesting connection to explore. He also mentioned that there are many Wakandan characters who have not been introduced in the MCU, and he believes there are many more stories to tell on Wakanda.
Despite the lack of X-Men in the MCU, Marvel Studios has several upcoming projects in the works. Deadpool 3 is on the way, and mutants from Fox’s X-Men continuity will appear in the film. Additionally, Ms. Marvel and Namor are the only two MCU characters to be associated with the mutant label.
Fans may have to wait until after the Multiverse Saga to see mutants fully integrated into the MCU, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the next saga was named after them. However, Loveness’ wording regarding the Fantastic Four seems to back up one of his previous claims. The writer said that he probably wouldn’t use Marvel’s first family in The Kang Dynasty.
In conclusion, while the X-Men may not make an appearance in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Marvel Studios has many other projects in the works. Fans will have to wait to see mutants fully integrated into the MCU, but with the upcoming slate of films and shows, there is plenty to keep them entertained.
