In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Zoe Saldaa candidly discusses her character’s emotional journey as well as the conclusion of Gamora 2.0 and Peter Quill’s stories. Saldaa explained James Gunn’s decision not to impose a relationship between her character, Gamora (Saldaa), and Peter aka Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, in an interview. They parted ways with mutual respect at the end of the film. She expressed her support for the choice, saying, “It was obviously a bittersweet decision.”I was hoping that in the last chapter, Gamora would remain and figure out how to become a Guardian again. But, given all she had been through, this felt like the perfect way to conclude things for her.” Saldaa’s character grows and endures various hardships during the GOTG trilogy. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos, represented by Josh Brolin, sadly murders the original Gamora. Saldaa, on the other hand, plays a distinct version of the character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Even though Gamora couldn’t recall her relationship with Peter, she believed it was unique. This section of the narrative appealed to Saldaa because it provided a ray of hope for the future. “I think the whole thing with Peter bothered her because, even though she had no recollection of who he was, she had a sense that it had to be special,” she explained. And I liked that conclusion because it offered us hope that if the Guardians seek aid from the Ravagers again, Gamora and Peter would find a way back into each other’s lives, even if just as friends.”
GOTG Vol. 3 depicts not just Gamora and Peter splitting up, but also Drax and Mantis, long-time Guardians team members, splitting up to pursue their respective goals and find peace after years of battling. During the credits, viewers saw Captain Rocket take command of the new Guardians of the Galaxy crew, which included an adult Groot, Adam Warlock, Cosmo, Phyla-Vell, Kraglin, and Blurp. They prepare for their new journey as the Galaxy’s newest defenders. Quill meets his grandfather again in the film’s post-credits sequence. The film, directed by James Gunn, marked the conclusion of his fan-favorite trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He did, however, recently offer his idea for a short film in which Rocket meets Groot.
